Dark Fire Press COVID-19 Statement
For our Readers & for Retailers

26 March 2020

Greetings to our new and return readers! And greetings also to retailers!

As a new online, Print-on-Demand publisher, we’re finding ourselves in a strange position during the present global pandemic.

Fortunately, because of the nature of how we’re set up, despite being small and growing, we should be able to weather this storm. The challenges, however, come from the fact that, because of Dark Fire Press’s business model (fully creator-owned and Print-on-Demand), we don’t carry any stock of our books (which will change now in future, due to the situation). We rely on our printers and distributors to fill all orders, to the public and to retailers.

So far as we understand it at this moment, mail is safe and fully operational, inside out outside of the US. And mail is not at risk for Coronavirus contamination.

At this present time, our comic printer, Ka-Blam is not fully operational, and won’t be for at least a 15 day period, as of this posting, according to their local laws. (Read their own news and statements on ka-blam.com.)

Our book printers and distributors, Amazon (amazon.com) & IngramSpark (ingramspark.com), as of this posting, are still operational.

And of course, for our readers, our digital distributors such as ComiXology, IndyPlanet, Kindle, Nook, AppleBooks, etc are still online.

We would like to work with any retailers that are in need of books and comics and will continue to offer that in any way we can, either through our printers or other means if possible.

Book retailers can continue to order our books through IngramSpark. Comic shops and retailers however, will need to rely on the stock our authors currently have, until Ka-Blam is operational again and able to fill orders. If you contact us directly (especially comic shops) we will work to get our comics to you. And once Ka-Blam is operational again, we are hopeful they can help us fulfill any further interest or orders.

If you wish to order our comics for retail, please the following e-mail: jmd@darkfirepress.com and title your message with the heading RETAIL ORDER. We’ll get back to you as quickly as we can.

Of course, with so many people home-bound right now, we appreciate the need for more content and entertainment to help people through this strange and unprecedented time. We had a few books waiting to go to print (Lil’ Steve’s Closet and Chadhiyana: Rekindled), and we’re very aware that some businesses directly linked to the publishing industry are either forced to close or at half-capacity right now, including printers, book stores, and comic shops.

Despite our unique position, we are trying to stay abreast of all current information, and are bound by any local laws in New Jersey and the United States as a whole.

Most of all, we hope everyone is safe, healthy, and secure during this unprecedented time. We will continue to keep abreast of the situation, make changes and adapt as needed, and update this page, as necessary.

Please also consider joining our mailing list, as it may be an additional way for us to get out information right now (and of course in the future): MAILING LIST SIGN UP.

Stay safe and healthy, everyone.

Sincerely,
J. M. DeSantis
